Description

Succinylcholine is a depolarizing muscle relaxant used as an adjunct to anesthetics during surgical operations. This neuromuscular blocker causes relaxation of skeletal muscles, especially the abdominal wall, facilitating surgical interventions. It is used in orthopedic procedures, dislocation and fracture corrections, as well as to ease laryngoscopy, bronchoscopy, and esophagoscopy in combination with general anesthesia. Additionally, succinylcholine is used to alleviate symptoms in patients with psychiatric disorders following electroconvulsive therapy, and in the treatment of seizures caused by toxic drug reactions.

Indications

Diagnosis of allergic reactions.
Assessment of sensitization level and allergy risk.
Monitoring the effectiveness of ongoing therapy.
Evaluation of sensitization level after allergen avoidance.
Assessment of immune system status.

Preparation

Draw blood in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
Drinking plain still water is allowed.
Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
For children under 1 year – do not feed 30-40 minutes before the test; for children 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.

Clinical Significance

This test allows identification of the cause of a patient's allergy and helps in selecting effective therapy and measures to prevent adverse reactions.
