Description

Peach – a plant from the Rosaceae family, common in warm temperate regions. The fruits of the peach tree – peaches and nectarines – are popular food products. The allergen component Pru p3 is a lipid transfer protein (LTP) that causes sensitization and can trigger severe allergic reactions. Determining specific IgE to rPru p3 helps diagnose peach allergy and assess the risk of systemic reactions.

Indications

Diagnosis of allergic reactions to peach.
Assessment of sensitization level and risk of allergy development.
Monitoring therapy effectiveness.
Assessment of sensitization level after allergen avoidance.
Evaluation of immune system status.

Preparation

Blood should be drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
Drinking plain still water is allowed.
Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
For children under 1 year – no food 30-40 minutes before the test; for children 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.

Clinical Significance

Peach is a common allergen causing both local (oral allergy syndrome) and systemic reactions (hives, bronchial asthma, anaphylactic shock). The allergen component Pru p3 is a panallergen resistant to digestive enzymes and heat treatment, which accounts for its high allergenicity and cross-reactivity with other fruits and nuts. Determination of IgE to rPru p3 by ImmunoCAP is the "gold standard" of molecular allergology, providing accurate diagnosis and risk prediction of severe allergic reactions.
