Description

The study is aimed at detecting sensitization to goose feather allergens, including the genera Anser and Branta. This test is important for diagnosing allergic reactions related to contact with feathers, which are widely used in products such as pillows, blankets, and jackets.

Indications

Diagnosis of allergic reactions to goose feathers.
Assessment of sensitization level and risk of allergy development.
Monitoring therapy effectiveness.
Evaluation of sensitization level after eliminating contact with the allergen.
Assessment of immune system status.

Preparation

Have blood drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
Drinking plain still water is allowed.
Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
Children under 1 year should not eat 30-40 minutes before the test; for children aged 1-5 years, 2-3 hours fasting is recommended.

Clinical Significance

Allergy to goose feathers can cause asthma, allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and extrinsic allergic alveolitis. Symptoms may appear after contact with feathers, bird droppings, or cells. Exposure to allergens can lead to the development of various types of immune responses. Diagnosis is based on clinical presentation, radiological examinations, and determination of specific antibodies. Contact with feathers is often associated with contamination by dust and other allergens. The test helps identify risks and monitor the effectiveness of allergy treatment.
