Dog fur contains skin particles (epidermis), which are a potent inhalant allergen and often cause allergic reactions. Animal allergens are present in indoor environments where they are kept, especially in carpeted areas. They can be carried on a person's clothing, so they are found even in schools, hospitals, kindergartens, and offices where no animals have been present. For dog allergy, it is recommended to avoid contact with circuses, zoos, petting corners, and apartments with pets. Cross-reactions with cat allergens (dander, fur, epidermis) are possible.

The study is conducted by analyzing the patient's blood serum to detect sensitization to dog epidermis — an inhalant allergen.

  • Diagnosis of allergic diseases: food allergy, atopic dermatitis, bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, respiratory allergy.
  • Assessment of the risk of developing allergic reactions to dog epidermis.
  • Detection of allergy symptoms after contact with a dog or being in a room where an animal was present.

  • Blood should be drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
  • Drinking plain still water is allowed.
  • Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
  • For children under 1 year old – do not feed 30-40 minutes before the test; for children aged 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.

Determining the presence and degree of sensitization to dog epidermis helps in accurate diagnosis and selection of effective treatment strategies for allergic diseases. The test allows assessment of the risk of allergic reactions and recommends preventive measures to avoid contact with the allergen.
