FEIA (Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay) – quantitative determination of specific immunoglobulin E.

Description

The test is based on the quantitative determination of specific IgE in blood serum using the FEIA method, which allows detection of allergic sensitivity to bird epidermal allergens.

This test includes the following analyses:

e70 goose feathers;
e85 chicken feathers;
e86 duck feathers;
e89 turkey feathers.

Indications

Suspected allergy to epidermal allergens in children and adults;
Examination for symptoms such as: eye redness and burning, eyelid swelling, tearing, sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, nasal itching, cough, shortness of breath, bronchospasm, allergic dermatitis;
When skin prick tests cannot be performed.

Preparation

Blood should be drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
Drinking plain still water is allowed.
Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
For children under 1 year – no food 30-40 minutes before the test; for children 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.

Clinical Significance

This test allows detection of sensitization to a group of bird feather allergens, which is important for diagnosing type I allergic diseases. Detection of specific IgE confirms the role of the allergen in the development of the allergic reaction, helping to identify the cause of symptoms and prescribe effective treatment and prevention. Sensitization to bird allergens can cause respiratory and dermatological manifestations such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, bronchial asthma, allergic dermatitis, and urticaria.
