Trout belongs to the genus Oncorhynchus, like Pacific salmon. Studies have shown that some children sensitive to cod have IgE antibodies to trout. The test is used to detect sensitization and allergic reactions related to trout consumption.
FEIA (Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay), ImmunoCAP (Solid-phase Immunofluorescence) – quantitative determination.
- Diagnosis of allergic reactions to trout.
- Assessment of sensitization level and risk of allergy development.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of ongoing therapy.
- Evaluation of sensitization level after allergen avoidance.
- Assessment of immune system status.
- Blood should be drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
- Drinking plain still water is allowed.
- Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
- For children under 1 year – no food 30-40 minutes before the test; for children 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.
Fish, especially trout, is a major food allergen causing most allergic reactions. Fish allergy usually lasts a lifetime. In countries where fish is a staple food, allergy is common among both adults and children. It is important to remember that allergy to one type of seafood does not necessarily mean allergy to others, so individual consultation with an allergist is essential.
