Thyme is an evergreen perennial shrub with aromatic gray-green leaves about 1.5 cm long. The flowers are lilac, gathered in compact heads. The plant has a square stem and is widely used as a spice. Thyme essential oil contains thymol, which has antiseptic properties and is used in medical and hygiene products.

FEIA (Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay), ImmunoCAP (Solid-phase Immunofluorescence) – quantitative determination of sensitization.

  • Diagnosis of allergic reactions to thyme.
  • Assessment of sensitization level and risk of allergy development.
  • Monitoring therapy effectiveness.
  • Assessment of sensitization level after allergen avoidance.
  • Evaluation of immune system status.

  • Blood should be drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
  • Drinking plain still water is allowed.
  • Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
  • For children under 1 year – no food 30-40 minutes before the test; for children 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.

Thymol, the main component of thyme essential oil, has antibacterial activity against Salmonella and Staphylococcus. Thyme oil is used in antiseptics, disinfectants, and mouth rinses. It also has carminative and anti-irritant properties. Cross-reactivity with other plants of the Lamiaceae family, such as basil, mint, sage, and lavender, should be considered.
