The study is aimed at detecting allergic reactions to a seafood mix. This test allows assessing the body's sensitization level and the risk of allergic reactions, as well as monitoring the effectiveness of the therapy conducted.
Cod is an important food product whose proteins are strong allergens that can cause both food and systemic allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. Shrimp and other crustaceans often cause allergies related to the protein tropomyosin, which is also found in dust mites and insects, explaining cross-reactivity. Mussels, tuna, and salmoncontain stable proteins (β-parvalbumins) that retain allergenicity even after heat treatment. Detecting sensitization to these seafoods helps avoid life-threatening allergic conditions and select appropriate treatment.
FEIA (Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay) – a fluorescent enzyme immunoassay that allows quantitative determination of sensitization levels to allergens.
