The peach allergen component Pru p1 is a PR-10 family protein homologous to the major birch pollen allergen Bet v1. Sensitization to Pru p1 is common in regions with high birch pollen exposure and typically causes oral allergy syndrome symptoms such as itching and irritation of the oral mucosa, as well as angioneurotic edema of the lips, tongue, or throat. Pru p1 is heat- and enzyme-labile and may cross-react with grass pollen, alder pollen, and other fruits of the Rosaceae family (apple, apricot, pear, cherry). This allergen component is an important diagnostic marker for allergy to Rosaceae fruits.

FEIA (Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay), ImmunoCAP (Solid-phase Immunofluorescence) – quantitative determination.

  • Diagnosis of allergic reactions.
  • Assessment of sensitization level and risk of allergy development.
  • Monitoring therapy effectiveness.
  • Evaluation of sensitization level after allergen avoidance.
  • Assessment of immune system status.

  • Blood sampling in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
  • Drinking plain still water is allowed.
  • No smoking for 30 minutes before the test.
  • For children under 1 year – no food 30-40 minutes before the test; for children 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.

Pru p1 is a thermolabile protein that is easily destroyed by heating and digestion. It has high cross-reactivity with birch pollen (Bet v1) and is associated with birch pollen allergy, often presenting with oral allergy syndrome symptoms. Co-sensitization with alder and grass pollen allergies is common, related to pollen-food allergy syndrome (PFAS). Pru p1 also cross-reacts with other Rosaceae fruits, hazelnut, carrot, and celery. Due to its high homology with Bet v1 and Mal d1 (apple) proteins, this test helps determine the risk of cross-reactive allergic reactions and supports accurate allergy diagnosis.
