Parvalbumins are small calcium-binding proteins found in fast muscle fibers of lower and higher vertebrates. They are major fish allergens that can cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.

Recombinant carp parvalbumin Cyp c1 is used for diagnosing fish allergy. Cross-reactivity has been found with other fish species such as cod, tuna, salmon, perch, eel, and others, depending on the degree of parvalbumin homology. The allergen component is heat-stable, so it can cause sensitization regardless of the method of fish preparation.

  • Blood should be drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
  • Drinking plain still water is allowed.
  • Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
  • For children under 1 year – no food 30-40 minutes before the test; for children 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.
