Cor a1 is a thermolabile molecular allergen found in the nuts and pollen of hazel (Corylus avellana). It belongs to the PR-10 protein family, which is involved in pathogenesis. Two isoforms of Cor a1 are identified: Cor a1.01 (hazel pollen allergen component) and Cor a1.04 (hazelnut allergen component). Sensitization to Cor a1 is associated with cross-reactivity with birch pollen Bet v1, as well as PR-10 proteins from other plants (alder, apple, peach). Symptoms are usually limited to oral allergy syndrome, including itching and irritation of the oral mucosa.
Cor a1 is an important molecular allergen with high cross-reactivity to Bet v1, confirmed by clinical studies. Sensitization to Cor a1 is associated with mild allergic symptoms, mainly presenting as oral allergy syndrome. Measuring IgE levels to Cor a1 helps predict the course and effectiveness of immunotherapy.

- Blood should be drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
- Drinking plain still water is allowed.
- Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
- For children under 1 year – no food 30-40 minutes before the test; for children 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.
