Asp f4 is a species-specific allergen component of the mold Aspergillus fumigatus, which causes allergic fungal respiratory diseases, including allergic fungal rhinosinusitis, severe asthma with fungal sensitization, and allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis. Asp f4 is the main molecular allergen in ABPA and an auxiliary allergen in other forms of AFAD, making it an important marker for diagnosing these diseases.
Asp f4 is a 30 kDa acidic protein with confirmed allergenic activity, among the most regulated transcripts after 16 hours of A. fumigatus cultivation. This allergen component is species-specific and does not have clinically significant cross-reactivity with other molecular allergens, enhancing the accuracy of diagnosing allergic fungal diseases.
FEIA (Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay) – a fluorescent enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative determination of specific allergens.
