The test detects sensitization to Ana o3 – a 2S albumin, the major storage protein of cashew nuts. Ana o3 is a key marker of cashew allergy, associated with a high risk of severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. This protein is resistant to heat treatment and digestion, which contributes to its high allergenicity.

FEIA (Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay), ImmunoCAP (Solid-phase Immunofluorescence) – quantitative determination of specific IgE to Ana o3 cashew protein.

  • Diagnosis of allergic reactions to cashew nuts.
  • Assessment of sensitization level and risk of allergy development.
  • Monitoring therapy effectiveness.
  • Evaluation of sensitization level after allergen avoidance.
  • Assessment of immune system status.

  • Blood should be drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
  • Drinking plain still water is allowed.
  • Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
  • For children under 1 year – no food 30-40 minutes before the test; for children 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.

Patients allergic to cashew nuts have an increased risk of severe allergic reactions, often more severe than peanut allergy. Sensitization to Ana o3 indicates primary cashew allergy and is associated with the risk of systemic reactions even with minimal allergen exposure. The test helps identify the high allergenic potential of the 2S albumin, which is resistant to various processing methods. The results are important for treatment planning, allergen avoidance, and assessing cross-reactivity with other nuts and seeds.
