Alpha-lactalbumin is a monomeric globular calcium-binding protein that makes up 25% of serum proteins and about 5% of milk proteins. In the mammary gland, it regulates lactose synthesis. The structure of bovine alpha-lactalbumin is 72% similar to the human protein and has antibacterial and immunostimulatory properties.
Milk allergenic components retain biological activity even after heat treatment. This is especially important to consider in allergies in young children who are fed milk formulas, which may lead to sensitization due to the immaturity of the intestinal barrier. Goat milk can cause cross-allergic reactions or act as an independent allergen. Allergy symptoms include urticaria, exacerbation of atopic dermatitis, gastrointestinal disorders, rhinitis, bronchial asthma, and anemia.

- Blood should be drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
- Drinking plain still water is allowed.
- Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
- For children under 1 year – refrain from eating for 30-40 minutes before the test; for children aged 1-5 years – 2-3 hours.
