Mandarin is the fruit of a perennial plant from the Rutaceae family, a common citrus crop used as a medicinal, essential oil, and ornamental plant. Mandarins contain vitamins C, B, D, K, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and organic acids. A distinctive feature of mandarins is the absence of nitrates due to interaction with citric acid.

Determining sensitization to mandarin allergen helps identify proteins of various sizes, including Cit s1, Cit s2, Cit s3, and Cit s IFR, which can cause allergic reactions in sensitive patients.

FEIA (Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay), ImmunoCAP (Solid-phase Immunofluorescence) – quantitative determination of sensitization level to mandarin allergen.

  • Diagnosis of allergic reactions to mandarin.
  • Assessment of sensitization level and risk of allergy development.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of ongoing therapy.
  • Evaluation of sensitization level after allergen avoidance.
  • Assessment of immune system status.

  • Blood should be drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
  • Drinking plain still water is allowed.
  • Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
  • For children under 1 year – no food 30-40 minutes before the test; for children 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.

Mandarins originate from Southeast Asia, particularly China. They are not only a popular fruit but also a source of beneficial substances that strengthen immunity and blood vessels. The test allows detection of specific allergens, facilitating accurate diagnosis and personalized allergy treatment, especially in patients with occupational exposure to orange tree pollen.
