Duck — a general name for wild and domestic waterfowl birds of the Anatidae family, which also includes geese and swans. This is the largest and most diverse group of waterfowl birds, bred and hunted for meat, eggs, and feathers. The ancestor of all domestic breeds is the mallard Anas boscas, widespread in Europe, Asia, and North America. Ducks often migrate and play an important role in agriculture and nature.

Asthma, allergic rhinitis, and conjunctivitis may occur after contact with duck feathers, epithelial cells, or droppings. Development of extrinsic allergic alveolitis is possible. Cross-reactivity exists between ducks, chickens, and other related birds, which is important for allergy diagnosis and treatment.
