Kohlrabi is a vegetable similar to cauliflower, leafy greens, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli. The stem and leaves of kohlrabi are edible. The test allows for the detection of sensitization to the allergen of this vegetable.

There may be broad cross-reactivity among species of the Brassicaceae family, such as broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts. Studies confirm cross-reactivity between cabbage, broccoli, mustard, and turnip. Sensitization is often associated with allergies to mugwort pollen, mustard, and peach. Chitinase allergen has been identified in cabbage, which may cause cross-reactivity with other plants containing this panallergen.
