FOX is an in vitro diagnostic test for detecting specific immunoglobulin G to 286 food products. FOX identifies type III allergic reactions, or IgG-dependent reactions to food.
Type III food allergy is a delayed hypersensitivity reaction representing a systemic response involving multiple organ systems. Gastrointestinal dysfunction plays a key role in the pathogenesis of various systemic manifestations.
Due to increased intestinal wall permeability, food proteins can cross the intestinal barrier, engage the immune system, and trigger inflammatory reactions. Associated symptoms appear with delay and range from gastrointestinal symptoms and joint pain to migraines.
Delayed-type allergic reactions to foods are mediated by IgG antibodies. By detecting food-specific IgG antibodies in blood serum, the allergens triggering the reaction can be easily identified, and symptoms alleviated by avoiding the corresponding foods.
Nano-technology, MADx diagnostic method – FOX (Food Xplorer), multiplex software – semi-quantitative determination.
