Dust mite Dermatophagoides microceras (d3)0062
Dermatophagoides microceras – a house dust mite found in bedding, mattresses, and upholstered furniture. It feeds on skin flakes and can be found on human skin and in saliva. It causes allergic reactions related to sensitization to mites and their metabolites.
D. microceras belongs to the Pyroglyphidae family of house dust mites, commonly found in homes on carpets and fabric furniture. Sensitization to house dust mites is one of the most common causes of respiratory allergy worldwide and is a significant factor in the development of asthma in children and adults. Approximately 20% of the population in industrialized countries are sensitive to house dust mites, with D. microceras being the third most common.
The main allergen is Der m1 – a protease that triggers a strong immune response. Mites live in carpets, furniture, bedding, and other areas with high humidity. Exposure to house dust mite allergens is a key risk factor for allergic respiratory diseases such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, as well as skin manifestations like dermatitis and urticaria.
Studies have shown that dust mites contain over 30 proteins capable of causing sensitization. Der m1 is the most common allergen of D. microceras, which intensifies inflammatory reactions in the body.
- Diagnosis of allergic reactions.
- Assessment of sensitization level and risk of allergy development.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of ongoing therapy.
- Evaluation of sensitization level after allergen avoidance.
- Assessment of immune system status.
FEIA (Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay, ImmunoCAP (Solid-phase Immunofluorescence)) – quantitative determination.
Please note that the research method and reference values may vary depending on the equipment and test systems used.
- Blood should be drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
- Drinking plain still water is allowed.
- Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
- For children under 1 year – no food 30-40 minutes before the test; for children 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.
