Chumiza (Italian millet) (f56)1602
Proso millet (Italian millet) is a cereal that was cultivated in prehistoric Europe. The plant grows from 30 to 100 cm tall and contains grain with a high percentage of indigestible fiber due to the seed coat. Proso millet is not related to wheat and is often grown because of its rapid maturation.

Studies have not found clinically significant cross-reactivity between millet and other cereals such as barley, corn, oats, wheat, or grass pollen. Although IgE antibodies may be detected to these cereals, this has no clinical impact. The 16 kDa rice protein is involved in cross-allergenicity among some cereals, but this information is not available for millet.
