Blueberry has low allergenicity but may cause food allergy symptoms in sensitive individuals. Cross-reactivity is possible with other fruits of the Vaccinium genus, sometimes mistakenly called cranberry. A lipid transfer protein (LTP) has been identified, which cross-reacts with LTPs from other foods such as peach, apricot, cherry, raspberry, grape, chestnut, hazelnut, corn, barley, asparagus, carrot, and lettuce.
