FEIA (Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay) – a fluorescent enzyme immunoassay that allows quantitative determination of specific IgE antibodies in blood serum.

Description

This test detects sensitization to bird epidermal allergens, which is important for diagnosing allergic diseases.

The test includes the following analyses:

e78 feathers of budgerigar;
e201 feathers of canary;
e213 feathers of parrot;
e214 feathers of finch.

Indications

Suspected allergic reaction to feather allergens in children and adults.
Examination for symptoms such as: eye redness and burning, eyelid swelling, tearing, sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, nasal itching, cough, shortness of breath, bronchospasm, allergic dermatitis.
Cases where skin tests are impossible or contraindicated.

Preparation

Blood should be drawn in the morning on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating.
Drinking plain still water is allowed.
Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
For children under 1 year – do not feed 30-40 minutes before the test; for children 1-5 years – 2-3 hours fasting.

Clinical Significance

This test comprehensively detects sensitization to bird allergens, which is important for diagnosing type I allergic diseases. Detection of specific IgE confirms the role of the allergen in the development of allergy symptoms, helping to identify the cause of the disease and select effective treatment and prevention. Sensitization may cause respiratory symptoms, allergic dermatitis, urticaria, and other reactions.
