Screening for allergy (IgE) and food intolerance (IgG) allows detection of sensitization to various allergens.
This testing determines:
Food allergy is an increased sensitivity of the body to food products caused by immune system dysfunction. It is most common in children but can persist throughout life in adults. According to statistics, 2-3% of adults and 7-9% of children under 6 years suffer from food allergy. In 5% of cases, respiratory symptoms may develop up to bronchial asthma, as well as dangerous reactions such as anaphylactic shock.
The prevalence of food allergy in individuals with gastrointestinal, liver, and biliary tract diseases ranges from 5 to 50%. It is often found in patients with other allergic diseases, particularly hay fever.
It is important to distinguish food allergy from food intolerance, as they are different conditions. Symptoms of food intolerance include:
ELISA ((EIA) (enzyme immunoassay) – quantitative determination.
RAST (Radioimmunoassay/Radioimmunological analysis, Radioallergosorbent test) – quantitative determination.
Please note that the research method and reference values may vary depending on the equipment and test systems used.
