Cefaclor is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic for oral use. It was first synthesized by the American company Eli Lilly and is known under the trade name "Ceclor".
Allergy to antibiotics can occur suddenly, even on the first dose. The immune system may be sensitive to cefaclor, posing a risk of allergic reactions. Cross-hypersensitivity is common in patients allergic to penicillins due to structural similarity. The rate of cross-reactivity among patients with a positive penicillin skin test is 6-10%. Timely detection of sensitization to cefaclor helps prevent dangerous reactions and manage the patient’s immune status.
